Arenal Volcano Eruption Journal - July 17th, Arenal Lodge View
These photos were taken between 10:00 and 11:30 pm from on of the Chalet buildings at the Arenal Lodge. The Volcano was not super active on this particular evening but the view was very clear and the silloute of the volcano was very impressive.
Eruption Date: Mon Jul 16 2007 17:00:00 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time)
The Arenal Lodge is set way up on the hillside on the Western side of the Volcano and offers panoramic views of the Arenal Volcano and Lake Arenal. Because of its location on the Western side the Arenal Lodge always has a lava view whether the lava is flowing on the south west or the north west side of the volano.
Check out our Arenal Volcano Map for an update on the volcano’s current activity. It did, however, enter into a resting phase in 2010. At present, no eruptions are occurring.
There are a number of excursions in Arenal that allow for close viewing of the Arenal volcano. These include hikes through the Arenal Volcano National Park and the 4-in-one Arenal excursion, which includes a trip to the waterfall, a volcano hike, and a visit to one of the area’s hot springs.
