Kalambu Hot Springs Water Park
Kalambu turns the geothermal water into the structure of a water park, the water park is located just 3.2 km (2 miles) outside of La Fortuna.
Kalambu Hot Springs Water Park has availability for parking near to the park. Changing rooms are available to change into your swimsuit and lockers and towels are available for rent against an extra charge.
The interactive water playground is available just outside the changing rooms, this is a playground for children of all ages. But children under the age of 6 must be accompanied by an adult. The playground consists of several small slides, water cannons and platforms of different heights, which are all surrounded by a pool of geothermal water.
There is a tower nearby, which is nearly 35 feet (11 meters) tall, the towers has three slides that descend into a pool. The "cyclone" and the "tornado" twist and turn, the "avalanche" bobs any riders up and down towards the water. Children must be at least 6 years old and 4 feet (1,20 m) tall to board these three slides.
Opposite of the tower is the "mammoth slide", this slide is the highest and the fastest of Kalambu. It starts at over 40 feet (12.5 m) in the air and you go through 374 feet (114 m) of tunnel before you arrive in the tunnel below. All kids must be accompanied by an adult and only children over the age of 7 can ride the Mammoth Slide.
If you want to have a relax after all the action, there are two thermal pools. One of them is for families and the other is for adults only. Both pools have a swim-up bar.
Each of the pools are on sides of the park's restaurant, Besa Mi Burro. It is a casual restaurant that serves pizza, grilled items, roast chicken and the classic Costa Rican casado. Parents can have a refreshing cocktail, while they still keep an eye out for their kids in the pool.
Kalambu is open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
